This old, pedestal cake plate is simple in design but larger than most vintage cake stands. The cake plate has short rim and a slight dip in the center and it is attached to a simple pedestal base. The top portion of the base is solid and the lower part is hollow with two opposing mold seams. The glass on the stem has stretch marks that encircle the top portion. This would showcase a beautiful wedding cake or make an elegant display for an array of cupcakes or even common cookies or doughnuts.
It measures about 14 ½” in diameter to the outside edge and 14” inside diameter. The lip is about 3/8” on the inside. The inside of the platter is flat for the first 4” then dips slightly across the middle. The bottom of the pedestal measures about 6 5/8” in diameter and the overall height is about 9 1/8”. It is in very good condition with minor wear. Besides the stretch marks and streaks in the manufacturing of the glass there is a dimple in the outside rim of the plate which I have tried to show in the photo. It is not a bubble and it is not damage but it is a manufacturing flaw.
