This red plastic dog is not only a figure of Pluto but it is also a vintage flashlight. Inside his open mouth is the little bulb and his tail is a plunger to turn the flashlight on/off. The plastic is mottled like Catalin with various colors of red and clear plastic swirled together. Pluto’s hind end screws off to replace the bulb and the battery. A spiral spring screws onto the bulb and onto the metal clad battery then when the bulb makes contact with the top of the battery the circuit is complete and the bulb lights up. This has the original, AA cell battery but the battery is dead and unfortunately today’s batteries have a plastic exterior so the circuit cannot be completed. The end that screws off is marked Revell Plastics - Hollywood U.S.A. - Pluto - (copyright) W.D.P. (Walt Disney Productions). I believe this is from late 1940’s.
The flashlight measures about 5 ¼” long from nose to tail tip and is in good condition with minor wear to the plastic. As state previously this has the original battery but the battery is dead so this is in non-working condition.
