Old, Miller Falls, Ratchet Brace with Assorted Bits
This is a vintage brace from the Miller Falls Company. I believe this is a version of the Barber Ratchet brace with a last patent date of 1880. It has a hardwood head and handle. It comes with an assortment of old bits in varying sizes from several different companies including; Irwin - USA, Shapleigh Hardware Diamond Edge, Stanley, Craftsman, Russell Jennings and three unmarked.
Overall the brace measures about 15" from head to chuck and is in used condition with wear to the plating which has allowed some rusting to occur. The chuck is still operable and the ratchet appears to work properly as well. The handle has a little paint on it and both it and the head could probably use some finish. The bits are probably all usable but in need of sharpening although they all seem to still have a point. For the most part they have some pitting and rust.
