Framed Water Color by John Stocking, 1843

I have two water colors dating to 1843 and done by John Stocking 1843. Each painting may have come from a scrap book for a school project.

The water color is of a goose. The framing is 6 3/8 inches by 6 inches. The frame is very nice with gold gilt and brown. I have not taken the back paper off this painting as I think this is fragile.

Printed information on the underside of the watercolor.

Watercolour picture by John Stocking, taken from a scrap book dated 1843. It would appear that John was born in about 1936 in Walsoken, Wisbeach the son of a police officer. In the 1881 Census he is working as a carpenter in Delph, Cambridge with his wife Ann and there 13 year old son Frederick. We know a little more about his father, Thomas Stocking (dates approx) 1830-41 Police Officer in the Isle of Ily Force; 1841-7 Police Sergeant in the Borough of Wisbeah Force; 1847-52 Police Inspector Whittlesy & Thorney Div. Isle Force. Living in Whittlesey
