English Victorian Silkwork Embroidery of a Child in a Garden with Trees in Background
A Victorian English framed embroidery of a young child standing at the edge of a brick wall. In the background on the left there is a small church and large tree. Shrubbery is seen in the mid- and foreground. The child's dress is indicative of the period and time of the year. (1860-1880) The embroidery has a variety of colors including gold, green, grey, red-brown, blue silk.
The frame is painted in gold gilt with floral designs at each corner. An oval matte is used to frame the embroidery. The glass is in very good condition.
This wonderful English Victorian hand work is in very nice condition with only some separations of the silk. C.1860
Measurements: Frame: 12 1/2 inches W, 14 7/8 inches H, 3/4 inch D; Embroidery: 7 1/2 inches W, 9 1/2 inches H.
