Henderson & Sons 'Log Cabin' Biscuit Tin, Manufactured by Hudson Scott & Sons, Carlisle, England, c. 1911
This is a rare English biscuit tin that was manufactured by Hudson Scott & Sons, Carlisle, England. The marks are located on the bottom of the side of tin with the horse and the cowboy. The mark on the left, Hudson Scott & Sons, Carlisle, Eng, and on the right Rd 575667, which dates this to 1910 -1911.
According to Southerby's 1995 sale of the Scheer Collection of Biscuit and Decorative Tins, the "Log cabin biscuit tin" was made for A S. Henderson & Sons, who made cakes and biscuits.
The log cabin has a hinged, gabled roof with the building lithographed all over. There is a variety of green shades and embossed figures including three people and a horse. The tin is 6 1/4 inches wide, 4 1/2 inches deep, and 4 3/4 inches high.
The tin is in good condition. The hinged roof "snaps" nicely into the cabin. There are user and rubbed marks here and there on one side of the roof, but otherwise, the cabin is in nice condition.
