Antique Mahogany and Ebonized Desk Ink Stand, Double Ink Wells
We were looking for this style of ink stand on our recent trip to the UK, and here it is. It's traditional, but it a style that would look fabulous on your desk at the office or at home.
It's 14 inches wide, and 8 1/4 inches deep. It sits on four 1/4 inch high bun feet.
The ink stand is composed of mahogany with an ebonized rim and handle. The two ink bottles have brass collars in very good working order. The beveled glass bottles are in near perfect condition. I could only find one tiny vertical line on one of the bottles. The ink bottles measure 2 inches on each side, and 2 3/4 inches high. The bottles fit snuggly into the ink stand. The pen tray is ebonized and we found the ink stand with this this ink pen.
There is a steel escutcheon (shield) and banner beneath attached with round tacks or nails. The writing on the shield is "Rosa Fearie Burton on Trent" and the writing on the banner is "Bairstine Road, September 27, 1884."
A wonderful ink stand.
