Two Volumes 3/4 Leather Bound Books, Realmah by Arthur Helps, London, 1868
Arthur Helps was a prolific 19th century British writer, and one of the most admired and respected secretaries and commissioners. He met Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and Victoria turned to Mr. Helps to prepare an appreciation of Prince Albert's life and character. He did this as the introduction to the collection (1862) of Prince Alberts speeches and addresses.
His writing was impressive exploring social and moral problems of the day by creating familiar speakers, as he did in this two volume Realmah.
The books are bound in 1/4 brown leather with marbleized boards for the covers. The condition of the books is good. The spine of volume 2 is a bit faded. There is very minor foxing on just a few pages at the ends. The texts are complete, and clean with no marks or tears.
The books measure 5 inches by 7 1/4 inches.
