Vintage/Antique French Pair of Glass Bottles with Stoppers in a Leather & Cloth Travel Case
This is a wonderful set of French glass bottles in a beautiful wood case bound with black leather and gold velvet cloth. The case itself is constructed with wood to form a strong, sturdy case with which to secure two glass bottles. The black leather is shiny, perhaps meaning its patent leather. The bottom and 2/3 of the case is covered in this leather. The outside edges are covered in the gold cloth. The case is further secured with brass edges on the bottom of the lid and top of case. The brass is a beautiful compliment to the leather and velvet cloth.
Inside the case are two glass bottles with original stoppers. The glass bottles and stoppers are in very good condition, except for a tiny nick on the lip of the left bottle (see photo). The bottles fit perfectly into the case, each having its own squared out compartment. No doubt, this case was designed for travel, as it would easily fit into luggage. The bottles perhaps were used for perfumes.
The underside of the lid of the box is lined with a yellow/gold fabric (silk). The edges of each of the compartments are lined with black leather.
The bottles measures 4 inches high (base to top of stopper), and 1 5/8 inches on each side. The case measures 4 7/16 inches wide, 2 3/4 inches deep, and 4 9/16 inches high. The lid of the case is easily opened by pressing on the brass button in the center.
A wonderful French vintage/antique item .
