Victorian Inkstand with Brass Carved Design & Ink Bottle
This is an antique inkstand that sits on three tooled bun feet. Two beautiful carved brass designs are attached to the maple surface with small brass nails. An 11 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inch carved brass design is attached to the front side of the inkwell. Hatching is used to on the brass to provide finer detail to the carving. The brass is in very good condition, with no nicks or pieces missing.
The ink well sits in a well. This is the original ink bottle that It perfectly in the well.
The ink well (bottle) is 3 3/8 inches in diameter at the base, and 2 inches high. It's heavy, and its been used, as some of the ink has dried on the inside of the well. User scratches, as expected. But the ink bottle is in very good condition. There is a tiny scratch on the outer edge of the base.
The inkwell measures 14 1/2 inches wide, 9 1/2 inches deep, and sits 1 3/4 inches high.
This is a striking inkstand. The combination of brass with lighter and darker timbers is very appealing. It would look great on your desk.
