19th Century French Amboyna Decanter Box
This is a lovely French decanter box. The amboyna is bound with two strips, a shield on the lid, and a rectangular shape at the key hole. Silver plate tacks hold the strip on to the box. The longer strips have a series of buttons attached to the strips.
The box measures 7 3/4 inches wide, 5 3/16 inches deep, and 6 3/4 inches high.
A blue felt is used to cover the bottom of the large compartment which would hold two decanter bottles. The underside of the lid is also covered in the same blue felt. We do not have the decanters.
This is a wonderful box that could be used for keepsakes, jewelry, or if you could find two bottles, the original purpose as a decanter.
