English Sterling Silver Calling Card Case
A beautiful English Sterling Silver Calling Card case. The case has a raised chase design with the center cartouche empty of engraving that was the habit of the era. This Sterling silver case is 4 3/16 inches high, 2 3/4 inches wide and 3 3/8 inches wide. There is also a loop on the upper left side so this calling card case could be worn on a chain or attached to a chain in a purse or pocket.
The calling cards cases were made popular by Prince Albert and used by both men and women. Condition is Very,Very good with little if any user marks and the spring to open the case is very tight. Sliver weight is 320 grams. Date is a guess but I would suggest 1870.
