1850 English Relief Molded Jug
A wonderful English Parin relief-moulding Pitcher/Jug. This pitcher has a British metal flip lid marked James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield. The jug has a very interesting shape with the pattern having a variety of designs. Around the lid there is the Greek Keys design with the center body theme is one of cranes. The handle is fashioned after bamboo. and seems to have been repaired at one time.
This jug has a ‘canteen’ shape. Measurements: 7 1/4 inches high and at its widest point 2 1/2 inches wide. This jug was probably used for wine.
Condition is very good with only one small repair to the handle near the base. The registration marks on the underside are Marker: Brownfield & Sons. January 29,1850, name of design: Yeddo.
