English Blue and White Transfer Ware Plate, c.1840
A wonderful Blue and White English Staffordshire Transfer Ware plate.
This plate would be one used under a sauce bowl. Other than two chips seem under the extended handles on each side of the plate, this transfer ware dish is in good condition.
The repeated theme of the transfer has cows in the meadow. The only mark that may help with the name of the maker is the letter Z, Measurements: 6 3/4 in diameter without measuring the handles and with the handles 7 1/4 inches across.
This charming under plate has a pearlware glaze. Suggested date 1850.
