English Brown Transfer Ware, C1840
A wonderful C.1840 English brown transfer ware plate. This is possibly a soup plate from a larger dinner set. The listed pattern is “Regina” by J. R. Staffordshire England. The makers mark on the underside is the used by John Ridgeway in 1840. Measurements: 10 inches across and with the raised rim of the plate measures 1 1/2 inches high.
The plate has an unusual scalloped edge and very hard to find, a few nips on the edge. There is staining under the top glaze or the transfer. This plate does display beautifully.
