Vintage Ballot or Raffle Rotating Drum
This is an English vintage table top style ballot/raffle drum. There is a slidable "door" on the drum which can be opened or closed. To use the drum for a raffle, the drum spins with the aid of a handle (which locks into position when collecting the raffle tickets. Tickets are dropped into the opened door, and then when its time to spin the drum, the door is closed, and off you go. The locking mechanism is seen on the top of the drum opposite side of the handle.
Note also how beautifully the drum is decorated. This is the paper that would have been available during the 1940's-1950's. The outside of the drum is decorated with bands of fabric and paper.
The drum measures 8 1/2 inches wide, and is 8 inches in diameter. The drum is secured on a wood base with metal fixtures. The wood base is 10 inches wide, 6 inches deep and 8 inches tall.
This is a lovely English vintage era memorabilia item, and would be a wonderful collectible on your desk. It might be a great way to keep all of the business cards you receive. Naturally it could be used for a local raffle or an election. Who knows, you might be the winner.
