Victorian Inlaid Flame Mahogany Decanter Box
This is a beautiful English Victorian decanter box made from flame mahogany with inlay on the decanter's top using bead work, and fan shaped on the corners, and an amazing Tunbridge like design in the center of the lid. The mahogany is in very nice condition. There is a age crack on the right vertical side of the box.
Inside the box are two glass decanters measuring 5 3/4 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches deep. One of the stoppers has lost its stem; other wise the bottles are in very good condition.
Opening the box reveals the two glass bottles beautifully housed in a container with red velvet lining on the underside of the lid, and on the tops of the compartments holding the bottles. The inside edges of each compartment are lined with a silver colored silk like material.
The box includes a working lock and key.
This decanter is in very nice condition and because of the flame mahogany and the quality inlay, would be a beautiful decorative piece on a table or desk, or could be used to contain your favorite beverages.
