Antique Playing Card, Marked Ferd Piatnik on Jack of Clubs
This is a single card, a Jack-of-Clubs marked Ferd Piatnik & Söhne, the Austrian playing card company in Vienna. Ferd Piatnik was an Austrian-Hungarian card painter,(1819-1885) and the co-manufacturer of playing cards. Piatnik bought the Vienna card company, and turned it into one of the most successful playing card companies in the world. After he died, his three sons renamed the company Ferd. Piatnik & Söhne. This 19th century card is stamped with the company's logo.
Condition: The card shows foxing, and wear, measures 4 13/16 inches x 2 3/4 inches. The back side of the card has a marbleized design of red, black and yellow. The card is on thick stock and has rounded corners.
