C1880-1900 English English Staffordshire Coin Bank 'Joe'
A very nice English Penny Coin Bank of one of the characters in the ‘Pickwick Papers’ by Charles Dickens. This character is of, Joe, Mr Wardles’ servant with his red hat. Most often this type to Staffordshire figurine would be given to a young child or something won at a fair.
This bank does show that at one time the bank was cracked opened in order to retrieve the coin money. I am so glad that someone else saw to it that the pieces were saved and this unique small coin bank was repaired. Measurements: 2 1/4 inches high, 2 inches wide. Condition: repaired but still has the condition that would allow it to be in a collection, nice and used. Light missing color to the cap and a rubbed area on the nose.
