1886 English Sterling Silver Calling Card Case
A beautiful hallmarked English Sterling Silver calling card case. Calling card cases were carried and used by both male and females. This card case measures: 4 inches long by 3 7/8 inches wide and can carry six to eight cards. Hallmarks: Date 1886 with the Victorian duty mark used between 1883-1899. Birmingham, England.
The engraved front and back reminiscent of stars layered on stars. The form is that of a gentle undulating form. The hinged flip lid is in great working condition. Calling Card Cases were most important in the English Victorian Era and could be used today. in the center on each side there is an open area for initials or a name to be engraved.
