A very nice English Gaudy Welsh mug/cup. This mug of the pattern is ‘Oyster’ and has been hand decorated with rich cobalt blue, orange and green colors. The luster gold color would have been applied after the final glaze and has little if any wear.
This mug/cup has the makers mark on the underside. The makers mark is one used in 1912, Allertons, Staffordshire, England.
Measurements: 3 1/8 inches high and 3 1/8 inches in diameter or including the handle 4 1/4 inches across. Condition: as seen in the photos the only error to the cup is on the underside with one chip to the final glaze and two small pieces of extra clay stuck to the underside and light general glaze cracking.
