19th Century Six-Sided Burr Elm Single Bottle Decanter Box
This is a beautiful six-sided burr-elm wood decanter box. The edges of the decanter are inlaid with a light elm contrasting wonderfully with the slightly darker burr. This pattern is also seen on the lid of the box. The box measures 10 1/4 inches high, 6 1/2 inches wide from corner point to corner point, and 5 3/4 inches wide at the straight edges.
Purchased in England, this very exquisite box is stunning sitting on a table or desk.
The box includes a working lock and key.
The box is lined with a delightful red velvet, which is in very good condition. The inside of the box is fully fitted with a burr elm ledge that holds the bottle in place. The bottle is most likely a liquor bottle or could have been used for wine. The bottle may be a replacement, but it is the way it was purchased. There is a hairline scratch on the bottom of the bottle. The stopper fits perfectly. The bottle measures 9 inches high and is 3 1/4 inches on each side.
This single bottle decanter is a rare find and would be a lovely item to display and use.
