Early Victorian Papier-Mâché Stationary Box
This is a stationary box made of papier-mâché with designs of flowers and swirling forms and iridescence the use of gold paint. Although there is very minor wear to the paint, overall, the stationery box is stunning.
Inside the box has seven compartments for stationary. The all the compartments are lined with a tartan paper pattern. The tartan is in very good condition.
The box measures 8 7/16 inches wide, 4 3/4 inches deep. The box is 3 1/8 inches tall at the front and 5 1/2 inches tall at the back.
This is a beautiful Victorian papier-mâché box that looks wonderful on a desk or table. The hinge is strong and sturdy, so that this stationary box could be used.
