A wonderful 7 1/4 inches long by 3 inches wide and sits 1 3/8 inches high keeping box. This box has a tartanware background with lithograph of children playing in a garden. The box has six divided slots on the inside and may have been used for sewing items.
Around the center there is the wonderful, very carefully hand painted gold-colored zig-zag framing the charming center picture. The closure is original and the condition of the box is very nice with only the usual handling marks that comes with age. 1880-1890. This tartanware/mauchline-ware keeping box would make a lovely addition to a collection and could be used.
