Tartan Ware Sewing Accessory, English, Victorian C.1880
A 2 3/4 inches from tip-to-tip' Victorian Egg Shaped tartanware item. The egg is one of the favorite shapes of the Victorian collectors and today. The eggs would be used for a sewing accessory such as a thimble.
This egg does not have a stand but at one time someone must have used this for something very special as they added a pink insert to protect the item. This could be carefully removed but I am leaving this alone. The clan name of the plaid is McDonald and all the gold work would have been applied by only a master artist. This tartanware egg is in great condition and could be used and displayed.
