Mid 19th Century. Very fine pair of Gothic influenced American Rococo parlor/hall chairs. Elegant tall pierce carved backs in a solid black walnut with a graceful foliate design, flanked by flowing spiral turned posts with ball topped finials. The wooden seat platform is decorated on the front and sides with dentil molding in a Gothic Taste. The front legs are a flowing spiral with a turned bottom and original brass casters. The rear legs are simple and curve back slightly. Cleaned and re-polished. Re-upholstered several years ago in a fined striped silk which has some slight staining but otherwise excellent condition. 42" tall x 19"wide x 21" deep with a seat height of 17" .
