Because of the crazy secondary market fluctuations, we are able to offer this exquisite set of eight napkin rings at much less than their original price. They will add "ooohs and Aahs" from your guests, as they admire these vintage napkin rings. The enamel is a work of art when held in hand; the Swarosky crystals make each a work of art. These were made in the early 1980s. (We also have listed a set of four exquisite enamel Strongwater napkin rings that are quite different in design from these; they have turtles.) Unfortunately the sparkling Swaroski crystals do not show well in the photos due to my lack of photographic expertise and the lighting I use.
Jay Strongwater began with the idea of turning everyday objects into jewels for the home: from miniature boxes to grand sculptures, all seemingly purloined from some enchanted forest where Swarovski crystals fall like snowflakes. Luminescent enamels shine and hand-set crystals sparkle on these gorgeous napkin rings.
Jay Strongwater said:
"I'm fascinated by the idea of taking our everyday belongings: frames, boxes, clocks—and turning them into a beautiful collage of metal, enamel and crystals."
Jay Strongwater, whose birth name is Jay Feinberg, was born in 1960. The Strongwater is an Anglicized version of his mother’s maiden name, Starkwasser. He went to the Rhode Island School of Design before he started designing jewelry when he was a sophomore. By the ripe old age of 22, his pieces were being sold in Neiman’s, Bloomingdales, I Magnin, and Bonwit Teller.
Strongwater invented new colorations and new techniques of enamel whether it is layers of enamel or translucent enamel.
He said “One of the things we pride ourselves on is very unusual colors.”
These napkin rings are in Very Fine Vintage Condition.
