Original Florida Highwaymen Hall of Fame R. A. McLendon (American b. 1932) is one of my favorite Highwaymen artists. This painting is a wonderful impressionist rendering. It is beautiful that in spite of the extremely difficult lives these men (and one woman) endured, they still had appreciation and love of nature's beauty. Their artwork is a celebration of nature's beauty and life itself.
Many of them would so lovingly paint a flower, such as this. The hibiscus is a common flower in Florida, one that grows wild quite extensively. It comes in different colors. This is one of two of McLendon's hibiscus paintings that I have listed.
McLendon's work has gone up steadily in price, but recently has risen more quickly. I believe the investment potential of the most desirable artwork of the original Florida Highwaymen is great. However, the greatest reward one gets is the enjoyment of the painting itself that you experience.
