John Gould (English 1804 - 1881) is held in the highest esteem for his "Birds of Asia" considered to be one of the greatest accomplishments in the world of ornithology. It took 34 years to complete. He was a perfectionist. Gould hired many skilled artists
to help create these outstanding lithographs. When these were published, the prices were very costly, and very few subscribers for the sets. Each of his fine lithographs from this work are very rare, and have appreciated in price steadily.
