John Gould (English 1804 - 1881) is held in the highest esteem for his "Birds of Asia" considered to be one of the greatest accomplishments in the world of ornithology. It took 34 years to complete. He was a perfectionist. Gould hired many skilled artists
to help create these outstanding lithographs. When these were published, the prices were very costly, and very few subscribers for the sets. Each of his fine lithographs from this work are very rare, and have appreciated in price steadily.

The overall condition is better than you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners. There are some imperfections. Please look at the photos closely. Some unevenness around the margins.
