There appears to be a growing number of collectors for old silhouette drawings. They certainly did require a lot of work, and I find them very interesting. This is one of three Old English detailed silhouette drawings in pen and ink that I purchased some time ago. This lady is depicted in a traditional dress that the artist has noted to be "England 1450". The second one depicting a lady in tradition garb of England 1600, the third a gentleman of 1550.
Country of Origin: England.
Medium: Pen and Ink on paper.
Size: 11 5/8 inches tall by 7 1/2 inches wide; framed 16 inches tall by 11 3/8 inches wide. Weighs 1 lb 13 oz.
Condition: The paper may have yellowed somewhat with age. Otherwise the artwork is in Very Good Condition. Matted and framed under glass. Frame is appropriate and also in Very Good Condition.
Please ignore the glare from the flash. The artwork is very good, as is the frame.
I have not examined this out of the frame. I was told that it was signed "Mona" but signature is not visible while matted and framed.
