Usually Lan T‟sai Ho is depicted with a bamboo basket or a peach or sprig of flowers. Our Lan T‟sai Ho holds the palm fan, symbol of authority. Most of the mudmen with the palm fan are older. so his immortality allows him variety in his attributes. Additionally, he holds the bottle gourd, a common Chinese symbol for longevity as well as good luck. Bottle gourds are painted with the Chinese symbol for longevity and then displayed in the home to ward off harmful energies - thus promoting long life. This Lan T‟sai Ho is glazed in the Sancai tradition of Mustard Yellow, Cerulean Blue, and Jade Green. His features are very well-defined.
