This Trench Art paperweight, c. 1918, has an artillery shell mounted on a stepped patinated relief spelter base. On the artillery shell, there is an applied Fleur-De-Lis and "Soissons." Soissons is in Northern France, and its coat of arms is the fleur-de-lis. This may have been a presentation item to someone heroic in the war. I purchased this at an auction, and have no further information on this unusual piece.
Size: 2 3/4" tall, 5 1/2" wide, 4 3/16" deep.
Condition: Very Good.
