Peters was active during the 1890s both as a stereo and portrait photographer. He took some extraordinary stereoviews both in winter and summer. The photographic clarity of his stereoviews is exceptional. Additionally, he took a number of photographs of churches/pastors in and around Carbon County which he had encased in glass paperweights and which he offered for sale. This weight is quite unusual, even for a Peters creation, since it appears to be a family portrait. One finds an occasional weight by Peters of a church or building, but the portraits are much less common. Also most weights that are found are from East Mauchlin, Pa and not Cementon. This is a very nice addition to a collection.
