This beautiful porcelain box honors the Lyndhurst, a Gothic Revival mansion on the Hudson River in Tarrytown, N. Y. It was designed in 1838 for General William Paulding by Alexander Jackson Davis who designed additions for George Merritt in 1864 - 1865. It was purchased in 1880 by Jay Gould.
