This is another outstanding exquisitely and finely detailed work of art by master Italian artist Franco Monastero (20th Century) that I have added a 14K bezel and loop so it can be worn as a pendant. It takes this master artist about three months to create this one of a kind incredibly detailed scene. It is in high relief, and when one holds it in hand it is breathtaking. There is a very beautiful young woman sitting with a small child standing next to her. She is extending her hand to the young man who has just arrived. (By the way he has his hand over the horse's neck it is as if he has just dismounted.) There is a tree on either side, a fence behind her, and buildings in the background. Even the horse is well-detailed. A border surrounds the scene. There is beautiful translucency in the beautiful peach color of the thin unsculpted portions.
The shell is the most prized Cassis Madagascarensis and the pictures do not do it justice. For some reason I could not get the detail well visualized in the photographs, but every detail of the faces, the horse and even the strands of hair is incredible.
I have had a jeweler add the gold bezel and loop for use as a pendant. It is 14K gold, although I think of this as fine art. (I have several others in my collection displayed on small easels in my etagere.)
We have the Certificate of Authenticity with picture of this piece (without bezel) signed by Monastero that will accompany this piece.
Country of Origin: Italy.
Size: 2 1/4" tall; 1 3/4"" wide. The bezel does not add to the dimensions of the scene.
Signed: Middle Bottom.
