This is a Charming Royal Copenhagen "Child Welfare Series" hand painted figurine depicting a girl from Amager carrying a basket of fruit or other produce. She was a "country cousin." This was designed by Herluf Jensenious (JUS marked on base). It is one of the annual fundraisers for the Danish charitable organization Børnehjælpsdagen which has worked to improve the lives of children in Denmark since 1904. One figurine design was produced each year in the "Child Welfare Series" from 1941 ~ 1965. The base also has the mark for the period of manufacturing or artisan of an inverted U shape with three bars that go across the U. This particular figurine was produced in 1943.
Size: Approximately 5 1/4" (13.3 cm) tall, 2 1/2" (6.4 cm) wide and 4 1/4" (10.8 cm) deep (widest diagonal).
Condition: Very Good. No losses or damage.
