Boehm has been the premier American porcelain manufacturer through the years. For a while, Cybis was coming close but unfortunately has not kept up with the quality. This fascinating piece is from the "Treasures of Tutankhamen Collection". It is the figure of the Egyptian God Anubis, released in 1976, made in conjunction with the exhibition of King Tutankhamen.

Designed and manufactured in the U.S.A. by the Boehm Porcelain studio, commemorative and limited edition pieces were made to represent the famous collection of Egyptian antiquities found in Tutankhamun's tomb by English archaeologist and Egyptologist, Howard Carter in 1922. The Treasures of Tutankhamun is said to be one of "the most important and beautiful exhibition of ancient Egyptian art ever to come the United States" and the fifty-five items chosen for the exhibition was meant to give an "accurate image of the contents of the four rooms of the tomb: the Antechamber, the Burial Chamber, the Treasury, and the Annex". . The spectacular Treasures of Tutankhamun re-creations by Boehm will never be made again!
