So many things we now treasure were actually fairly common at the turn of the Century. People did things in a more charming and sentimental way. This is a lovely Necessaire that I purchased some time back from another Ruby Lane shop. It is gold washed over silver stripes surrounding a pretty floral plaque in yellow, pink & green enamels over guilloche engraving. The case has a nicely detailed engraved border that continues through the sides. The back is striped with no gold wash. The interior compartment features a mirror, powder compartment (some powder traces remain) and a round rouge insert. There is room for a bit of money and perhaps a key. So this elegant item was useful.
Size: 3" x 2" . The chain is 11". It rises about 5" up from the top of the push button clasp.
CONDITION: No damage. It opens and closes as it should. The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
Markings: None found.
Country of Origin: likely of American origin.
