This is an extremely well-carved okimono in lacquered wood. The man wears a red robe. He is seated with an outstretched leg and raised knee, two hands together and with mouth open as if in pain. It appears that his hand may be the source of his pain. He has inlaid eyes. A very interesting piece.
Size: 3 1/4" long.
Circa: 19th Century.
Condition: No damage, cracks or breaks. The lacquer shows its age a bit.
All told, still Very Good Condition.
Provenance: Chait Gallery.
THIS IS MADE OF WOOD. NO IVORY IS EVER OFFERED IN MY SHOP.
