About twenty-five years ago I was offered a large number of original art by this artist. I simply loved his work, and bought every piece offered; drawings and paintings. I know nothing about the artist, but really enjoy his work.
This watercolor is an exceptional work, in my opinion. His (or her) style is more complex than it originally appears. When one sees the reflections in the water and the ripples, it is quite appealing. Further, he is riding bareback, yet he has another horse, riderless, with him that appears to have a Western saddle (note the saddle horn which an Indian would not have.) Makes one wonder where he got the horse? What happened to the horse's rider?
Medium: Watercolor on textured stock.
Size: 14 1/8" by 10 1/8".
Signed: Carlton (in the water by the horse's head on right.
Condition: There is some staining on the top left, and some very slight staining across the top, all of which would be easily hidden by a frame.
Otherwise, this is in Very Good Condition.
