This is from my private collection; one of which I am justifiably proud. It is from the collection of Sam and Winifred Altschuler who were well known to have one of the premier paperweight collections of the world. It has been museum exhibited (see Provenance below).

Description: A golden yellow flower, with spaced green leaves, is centered in a ring of five millefiori nosegays, on a translucent ruby ground. Circular top facet, and three rows of side facets.

Maker: Saint Louis.

Diameter: 2 5/8".

Circa: 1860.

Condition: Minor Surface Wear.

Provenance: The Hollister Collection. Exhibited Neenah, Wisconsin, The Bergstrom-Mahler Museum, "Rare Paperweights From A Private Collection" June 12 - September 5, 1982, Catalog Number 47. (See The Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights, p. 102 and color fig. 32.) Listed L. H. Selman Paperweight Price Guide, featuring the collection of Sam and Winifred Altschuler, Lot 50, p. 14.

Serious collectors understand that these high quality weights from the Classic Period are extremely rare. One in this condition has been exhibited in a museum because of its quality and rarity. A wonderful weight to give you such pride of ownership.
