The quality of this work is very impressive. It is a large plaque and I believe the artistry and workmanship rivals that of KPM plaques. It is a scene with feeling and movement and happiness. Here are two friends, a man and a friar, enjoying their meal together, their enjoyment probably enhanced by a smiling server.
I am not sure which Bertini is the artist. I suspect Luciano Bertini since I have seen one plaque created by Luciano Bertini called "The Cook," however there were a number of Bertinis who were known artists from the 19th Century.
Size: 7" x 10". Framed 21 1/2" x 18 1/2".
Marks: Signed lower right, "Bertini". Verso is titled "The Macaroni" and numbered 21309.
