This is a delightful rendition of the Pekingese Dog, by a French artist who touched the hearts of many with some of his animal depictions. His work has appreciated and prices are rising. Christies London sale (Sale 4326) , November 21, 2012, auctioned a bronze model of a fox by Louis Fontinelle, and it realized a price of $1986.00. Of course, all art should be purchased for one's enjoyment. If appreciation continues to occur, it is a plus. But the main benefit of art is your personal enjoyment of what you select.
Size: Measurements: 10 1/2" x 12 1/2" x 7 1/2"
Condition: A good deal of green patina. It has no losses or damage, but certainly signs of wear consistent with a sculpture of over 80 years of age.
This is one of several pekingese artwork that I purchased years ago From the estate of Kay (Mrs. Walter) Jeffords, prominent breeder & exhibitor of Pekingese show dogs.
