Han Xiang Zi was one of the Eight Immortals. He was a philosopher, said to be an austere seeker after metaphysical truth, utterly disinterested in politics and worldly affairs. His emblem was his bamboo flute, symbolic of giving life, and he became the protector of flautists.
Glazed in Jade Green and Yellow with Brown accents. He is seated on a textured rock.
He is 4 and 1/2 inches tall.
The Condition is Good. There are no cracks or breaks. His thumb of the hand holding the flute is a bit rough, and the tip may have been broken off. There is roughness on the bottom. The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
This is one of the fabulous collection of Chinese Mudmen I purchased, that had been lovingly collected over many decades by a single owner. I purchased all 144 pieces, all in Very Good to Excellent Condition, with no breaks, cracks, or losses. I will be listing all of them, and of course will consider a reduced price if one were to purchase all or a large number of them. I am listing them at very affordable prices individually as well.
