This is fascinating. It is from the Leo and Doris Hodroff Collection, and is labelled with small writing hard to read. It does say "Royal Person on H---(probably horse) w/feet on tang & kyun- South Ch---- Ching Dynasty Mr. Hodroff was a well-known collector of Chinese antiques. The following is excerptedfrom his obituary: He is known as a foremost collector of Chinese Export Porcelain. Two books have been published on the collection and he and his wife have established galleries at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Winterthur Museum, Wilmington, Delaware, Norton Museum, Palm Beach, Florida and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester."
A Chinese Carved Wood Parcel Gilt and Polychrome Decorated Figure is depicted with one arm raised, seated on a horse. His feet are on a dog on one side and adrago on the other.
Height 11 inches.
Condition: The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed and handled usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
