This Painted Porcelain and Gilt Metal Drawer Pull with Ballooning Motif is dated to late 18th-early 19th century. The porcelain plaque is framed by the beaded border; the ground depicting balloon in flight over port; "BLANCHARD" arching overhead. The Blanchard text to the illustration relates to Jean-Pierre Blanchard, a French nobleman, inventor, and balloon enthusiast.
