I am so proud to offer this French Miniature Framed Watercolor Painting with Balloon Motif of the Ascent at Tuileries Palace. This was likely made as a commemorative souvenir of the first manned, hydrogen-filled balloon ascent by Jacques Charles & Marie-Noel Robert, which occurred December 1, 1783 at the Tuileries Palace. It is a beautifully executed painting housed in simple carved frame, artwork depicting the balloon ascent at Tuileries Palace, with handwritten inscription to reverse Depart des Tuileries, housed in circular gilt case with glass to face.

Condition: Added pad to reverse. Circular cutout to reverse frame slightly loose; one minor wormhole to frame face; some patination spotting to gilt frame face. Wear commensurate with age.
