Tony Agostini (Italian, 1916-1990) Born in Bastia, Corsica, He began in an administrative career, during which he met Gen-Paul, Francis Carco, and Marcel Ayme in Montmartre in 1944, and then came to painting. He made numerous solo shows since the first in 1947 and the second in 1948 and again in 1951. 1952, Paris Gallery Visconti 1957.1963 Galerie Charpentier, 1959.1962 New York, San Francisco 1960.1962 and more. He figured in several of the annual shows of Paris, then: from 1953 Salon Painters Witnesses of Time, in 1955 and an annual School of Paris, Galerie Charpentier, as well as thematic exhibitions held there: Discover 1955, 1957 Price Greenshields, 1961 Shapes and Colors, in 1957 the Salon des Tuileries and participations in group shows abroad. Perhaps influenced by Gen Paul in color, both struck and yellow, in form, he observes the strict principles Cézanne, sometimes inflected by Cubism. In the beginning painter crowds and squares and streets of Paris, then be preferred still life. Museums in which it operates: Ajaccio - Albi - Amsterdam - Le Cateau - Munich-Paris (Mus. d'Art Mod. City) - Tours (Mus. Gemmail). Tony Agostini died in 1990 in Antony (Hauts-de-Seine). His high auction price has been more than $6,300.00. His work has sold for higher prices in galleries in France, Italy and the United States.
