This is an antique Clichy concentric millefiori miniature piedouche weight. A white and green rose cane is centered by five concentric rings of assorted complex canes, including bulls-eyes, florets, stars, bundled rods, and crimped canes, in shades of pink, green, purple, red and white. A ring of green moss canes encircles the border of the design, over a basket of alternating. vertical, pink and white staves, which extend down the short pedestal base to a clear, circular foot.

This is a very rare and special weight that has been one of my special weights for many years. Serious collectors are awed by this lovely little weight. As you know, price depends on several factors: excellence of the individual pieces, rarity and condition being critical. Because of the difficulty in making the piedoche, fewer were made. The condition of this one is excellent. The perfection and the assortment and the perfection of placement of the canes, the perfect circle and spacing, all make this a spectacular addition to the most disdcriminating collection.
