Roberto Ortuno (Spanish, b. 1953) paints with a feel for nostalgia; a simpler aesthetic. He captures romance from a moment of simplicity and impressionistic beauty. His use of colors fascinates me. There is a feeling that I usually only get with pastels and watercolors that his paintings evoke. His impressionistic style is quite different from other artists. Mr. Ortuno is in Spain, and his work has been sold primarily there. Public sales results are spotty, although his high public sale price realized is over $2500.00. I suspect that he has sold works at much higher amounts in Spain. A few pieces have found their way to the prestigious Clars Gallery and Heritage, and the Mainichi and the Mallet in Japan. One sale at Clars was over $1100.00. I believe his work will begin to be purchased at much higher prices now that the economy seems to be improving. However, the reason to buy any art is because you get enjoyment from it.
His work is becoming more expensive and in demand, and we have begun to raise prices for our Ortuno offerings.
